  It’s a Blue, Blue Day

I can’t tell you how ecstatic I am to have 2 1/2 more finished knits. Well, on to the first…
image
Pattern...Arisaig from Knitty
Yarn...Rowan 4 ply Soft in color #372
Needles...I can’t remember right now…but I always go down a needle size (Inox)
Size...Smallest
Mods...The only thing I changed are the sleeves. I casted on 8 sts less than called for. They were way to baggy for my liking. I wanted them fitted.
This is a fabulous sweater and a fun pattern. I love the way it fits and how very soft it feels next to the skin. This is fabulous yarn. My problem is figuring out what to wear underneath. Soooo very comfortable. I’m very happy with the final results.

Next up is...
image
image
image
This shows the pattern but the color is darker
Pattern...Indigo Ripples Skirt from the Spring IK 2007 (Kat Coyle is a genius & my hero)
Yarn...Rowan Denim in color #225 (Memphis)
Needles...Size US 1 and 2 Inox circulars
Mods...I knit the stockinette portion of the skirt longer (the lace is pretty see through) I knit the lace part longer also to make it just below the knee. Instead if an knitting an Icord for the belt, I knit a crochet chain with a double strand of yarn. I like it because it is flatter then the Icord and knits up much faster.
I am sooo in love with this skirt…everything about it. I love the color (the denim already faded some with the first wash). The fit is perfect and I love how stretchy and comfortable it is. It is flirty, sexy, but is also comfy. I love the fact that you can dress this skirt up with a cute top and nice heels or you can dress it down with a tank and flip flops and still looks great. This is the first skirt I have ever knit…but you can bet, it will NOT be the last. You can also be sure that I will be knitting with this fabulous yarn again. I have seen 3 of these fun skirts knitted up and they all look great on each body type.

Last one up is...
image
Well yes…only one is completed as I have been a very busy girl finishing other knitted jewels. I am about halfway through the second sock, although I am in no rush to finish it as the weather is getting warmer.

One last thing
...

My babies. LOVE em!!!

I am soooo looking forward to the MD Sheep and Wool Festival this weekend. I can’t wait! Hope to see some of you there!

Have a fantastic day!

  Is That all there is?

I have not had as much time for posting lately…but one thing is for sure, I am as much or more obsessed with knitting as I ever have been.
I absoutely LOVE it. It s a part of my heart & soul now. I can’t run away from it! Now let’s get down to business…

Finished Objects...
image
This is the stunning Shedir hat from Knitty.
I used Rowan Calmer in Black because that is what my DH wanted. I think it is very elegant in this color.
He said to me when I finished it…“Are you sure I sould wear this, it’s so fancy” I adore this pattern…so much so that I turned right around & made one for myself in Chocolate.
image
image
I knit mine with only 3 repeats of the pattern and it fits perfectly. LOVE it!!

Knits in Progress...
image
Oh my…it’s the beginning of Eunny’s amazing Bayerische socks.
I’m using Lang Jawoll in a very neutral oatmeal shade. This is definitely a tedious pattern (in a great way) using 2 US 0 Addi circulars (I love, love, love using 2 circs).
You are working a lot of cables (no cable needle of course) here…but I love it. Next up…

image
I saw this pattern on Craftster and I thought it was a very pretty fitted sweater.
I’m using Zara in a beautiful eggplant shade. It is a very simple but pretty pattern.

image
image
The River Stole from Rowan 38. Ahhhh…Kid Silk Haze…I needed my fix since someone took my Birch, I had to knit another shawl or stole to replace it (I miss you Birch :-( )
The color is Anthracite & it is a dark charcoal grey. Beautiful!!! We are entering the perfect seasons for me to wear a shawl.
I carry one with me whenever I go out to dinner. I just adore the feeling of the KSH on my shoulders when I’m wearing a sleeveless top. So light, so airy, soooo fabulous.

Last but not least...
image
I am now knitting the miles and miles of trim. I alterd the sleeves as they were going to be too big. They are perfect now.
I love this & can’t wait to finish her off. The true color is a slate grey.

Important News...
We bought Bentley a playmate…meet Porsche…
image
image
Is she the cutest? Well these photos are from a month ago. That was then…this is now…
image
Bentley and Porsche…my babys. I don’t know what I ever did without them.

Some photos to leave you with..
image
A piece of my RAW Blueberry Pie. YUM!!!

A beautiful golf cours in Palm Springs.

An Orchid I have that totally rebloomed. Gorgeous!

Have a fabulous day!

Ring out the Old…Bring in the New

Ring out the Old

I can’t believe I have another finished object. Oh how lovely that feels…being almost done…dreaming of what to knit next…trying to decide from 6 other beautiful knits…help me!!!
Here is the finished Aurora Yoked Cable Cardigan...
image
and the back…
image
This was one quick knit. I was really knitting away on this one though. I have to tell you…when I first finished this sweater, I hated it. It was soooo tight that I thought I was going to have to hand it down to my grand daughter. But…thank goodness for blocking. I actually do not block my knits except for Birch (shawl). I just washed away in Eculan, squeezed out the excess water with a towel & layed her out on my sweater dryer rack (boy I love this thing) and voila…Perfection! Don’t you just love it! I wish everything was that easy. I am still trying to find that perfect button. For now though I’m using a beautiful wooden shawl pin that I bought at Stitches. I think it makes it look pretty elegant…although I’m not happy with the camisole I am wearing underneath. I’ll work on that one though.

Pattern...Karabella Cable Cardigan #KK183
Yarn...Karabella Aurora 8 (YUMMY) #138 (a very rich brown)
Needles...US #7 circular Inox (my faves) actually the needles they call for
Mods...I made the yoke and sleeves a little longer (I think I"m getting monkey arms as I’m getting older…I hear gravity does start pulling things down & certain things do continue to grow. wink
Overall, this is a very pretty & soft cardi that I will wear a lot. Since the color is neutral, it will go with many items in my wardrobe.

Bring in the New

As for my newest project, I started Arisaig
image
I have been craving to knit this one for quite some time now. It will surely take awhile as it is knit on size US 1 & 2 needles. My only worry is that it will slip off my shoulders. I can only hope it won’t though. Here is my progress so far…
image
I’m using Rowas 4 ply soft in the color Sooty. It is a gorgeous deep rich gray. Oh my…how I LOVE knitting with this yarn. Pure heaven. I’m so in love, I would marry it. I hope my DH doesn’t get too jealous! I can’t wait to start on the lace pattern. I only have about another inch to go before I do.

I’m dying to knit this…I have all the yarn for it already…
image
It entails steeking…eeekkk! I can do it…I know I can, I know I can!
PS…her hips only look big because of her VERY puffy skirt.

Diet Lifestyle Update...
Yes…I am still eating Raw…100% raw that is. It has been almost 6 months now & I’m loving it. I love the food I make and the best part are the desserts I get to eat. So much so that I had to share a few photos with you…
image
Yummy raw Cheesecake with Bing Cherry topping. Oh my…and if I might say so…very rich! I have also eaten it with sliced banannas on top & then drizzled with honey. UMMMMMM!
image
Raw Apple Pie. This is so delish that I have had to give out the recipe to some SAD (Standard American Diet) eaters.

I will leave you with a cute photo of Bentley…
image
His red shirt says Security on it. I love ya man!!!

  Birthday Resolution

Why is that people who have a full time job seem to be able to get more done in any given day than people who do not? It is because they plan their time for what they need and want to do outside of work. I do not work & am having a hard time getting the things done that I need and want to do. So…I came up with this fabulous idea. Yesterday was my birthday…Happy Birthday to me. Instead of a New Years resolution, I made a Birthday resolution. Ready…here goes…I decided that every morning when I get up I’m am going to pick 1 thing that I feel I want to get done that day, whether it be knitting, drawing, posting, sewing, checking out other blogs, exercising…get the picture? Now…once I get that done, anything else I do is just a bonus for that day. I think it could really work. Don’t you? Guess what my goal was today…you got it…posting on my blog!!! Now for the good stuff…

Knitting Update...
I have finally finished my Jo Sharp Cable wrap cardigan. This is a lot of sweater. Have a look…
image
and the back…
image
I am very pleased with this cardi. I’m wearing it more as a jacket as it is very cozy & warm…not itchy at all.
Pattern...Wrap Cardigan from Jo Sharp Contemporary Knitting (The sweater is on the cover)
Yarn...Jo Sharp Silkroad Aran Tweed in Posie
Needles...Inox circulars (my favorite) in size US 6 & US 7
The only alterations I made to the pattern is that I did not increase the sleeves stitches to 96 (yes, I had to rip out the whole sleeve as it was HUGE) I only increased to 76 stitches. Much better! I also lengthened the sleeves by 2 cm each. Go check out Donna’s (she made the same one in a different color. I love her color better though. Did you hear me D? I absolutely love knitting cables. I could do it all the time…which brings me to the next knit project I am working on…
image
image
This is from Karabella and it is called the Cable cardigan…
image
I am using Aurora 8 in color #138. I really wanted to knit this sweater but I didn’t have the yarn yet so I started the other. I am going to start this very soon though. I love it & it is something different than cables.

Stitches Update...
Donna & I went to Stitches. Now we live only a half hour away. Since we are used to Atlantic City & staying over for 2 nights, we decided to do the same here. We stayed at the Hyatt. It was newly refurbished & was beautiful. We had a fabulous time. We were not able to take photos as they were not allowed. But we did manage to get a couple outside the doors of the market…
image
image
image
Don’t we look sooooo happy to be there? We did have a blast.

I have to show you my brand new knitting bag I got last week (no…it is not from Stitches)...
image
Here is a photo of the interior…
image
And a close up of the beautiful antique button…image
This is the most gorgeous knitting bag I have ever seen. It is from Green Mountain Knitting Bags
The quality of her work is simply amazing. Go check her out!!!

Well I have lots more to post…but that’s enough for today.
ummmm…I wonder what my goal will be for tomorrow!

Have a great one!!!

  Obsession

First of all, I’d like to say that I have really missed blogging. Secondly…I’d like to send a huge thank you to each and everyone of you who have emailed me again and again (you know who you are), wondering if I was ok and that nothing was wrong and everything was going well in my life. You all have a way of making a girl feel very special and I really appreciate that!! Yes…everything is going well, I am fine and my life is good…thank you. grin

Ok…now on to a few things that have been going on in my life…
1. One reason that I have not posted is we got a puppy…a Japanese Chin. His mane is Bentley and he his such a cutie pie. We got him when he was 14 weeks. That alone was a full time job, with housebreaking and all. He is 6 months old now. Have a look at this handsome boy…imageimageimageimage The other male above is my son Jordan. Bentley is wearing a tee shirt that says…Bitches love me. It is soooo cute. You have to know that he is only 4 lbs. The most he will get is about 5 to 6 lbs. My Dh and I like to take him out to different places on the weekends and he LOVES it! He love people, kids, dogs…anything and everything.

2.Remember the Grey Birch Shawl that I knit…well Rick & I went out a couple of months ago for Happy Hour and I left Birch on the back of my chair. GONE…totally gone. If it were me, I would NEVER have taken something I found. But thats just me!!! Karma baby…Karma. I know…it is my own fault. I should have remembered to take it with me when we left. :-(  I’m going to knit a new one in early Spring. I have to say that I always brought her with me when we went out to eat as I always get chilly in restaurants. I loved that shawl and wore her a lot! I love the feel of the RKH on my shoulders.

3.Knitting Update...Yes I have been knitting, but not quite as much when I first got Bentley. I knitted Something Blue (Rebecca Apricot Jacket) Here she is…
image
Here is the back…
image
Wow…another sweater that fits great. I love it! I used Rowan All Seasons Cotton in Dusky #164. As always…I went down a needle size from what they call for. It just seems to work for me. Another fabulous FO…Woohoo!

I stil am not finished with my Jo Sharp Wrap Cardigan. I have been working diligenltly on her though. I WILL be finished her by Stitches East. Here is my progress so far…
image
I have also finished one sleeve. I just need to bind off and attach it…then on to the other one. I have to pick up all the stitches on the front and neck for the collar and the bands. Than I have to knit the belt. I can not wait till this knit is done. I am enjoying knitting this sweater, though the back took a loooonnng time (70 cm of a long time), as there is no binding off for any shaping.

4.I have totally changed the way I eat…it’s called eating RAW. I started eating Raw as I had some tests done and found out that I had Gastritis of the stomach. So I tried different things. It has been 3 1/2 months that I have been a Raw Vegan/Foodist and I LOVE it. My stomach is feeling much better & I have noticed other positive things going on. I didn’t need to lose weight, but I lost 4 lbs none the less. The reason for the title of this post is that I have been obsessed with this Raw food thing and hanging out on all the forums to learn a lot more about it.

Well…I think thats it for now and I promise that my next post will not take another 3 1/2 months.

Have a fabulous evening!!

PS…I can’t wait until Stitches East (4 weeks to go)!!!!!

  The Unforgotten

Yes…I’m talking how all you fabulous Bloggers out there have not forgotten about me. I just wanted to say thank you for thinking about me & wondering if I’m doing ok since I hurt my back. I am extremely touched with how concerned you all have been regarding my health & absence. Thank you!!! grin You are all wonderful people.

I have so many things that I need to post that it is overwhelming…so I’m going to break it up in segments. There is Md Sheep & Wool, Hawaii (lots of photos) & other stuff.

To start with, I am going to post my knitting updates…
image
Both of the fronts are finished on the Jo Sharp Wrap Cardigan. The back as of now measures 45cm & I need to knit to 70cm & then bind off. I am really looking forward to this sweater being finished. Have I told you how I LOVE knitting cables without a cable needle? It looks like this sweater will be done by late summer or fall as I have other things that I’m doing also. Such as these…
image
These beautiful Norwegian Stockings are from Folk Socks by Nancy Bush. I have been eyeing these babies for awhile but did not know how to knit Fair Isle. Then I saw Eunny’s & Fig and Plums stockings, fell in love & knew I had to learn this technique. Heather & I took a private lesson at Cloverhill Yarn I am so glad I did. It is so interesting how a garment with an intricate pattern can evolve using only 2 colored yarns in each row knitted. I do need to practice a lot more, though my technique is already improving from what I have knit on these stockings. I tried different ways of holding the yarn (both stands in one hand on the index finger, both strands in one hand with the main color on the index finger & the contrast color on the middle finger. What works best for me though is holding the background color in my right hand & the contrast color in my left. I’m getting more proficient at it the more I knit this sock. I absolutely love seeing the pattern unfold in front of my very eyes. It is so hard to put this project down. I’m using Dalegarn Baby Ull in Black (#0090), Cream (#0020) & Burgundy (#4227). It is very nice yarn to knit with & as a bonus, is machine washable.

Woohoo…A Finished object…
image
This cute little thing is for Leeba (half distant cousin…that is the closest thing I can think of that she could be) This is my first baby sweater & I love how quick they knit up! I used Scoobido from All About Yarn I through out the yarn band, so I don’t even know if that is spelled right. Sorry!

Next time I will post about Stitches & more photos from Hawaii. For now though I leave you with just a couple pics…
image
image
image
These photos are all from Hawaii. It is so beautiful there that you can not take a bad picture!

*****I totally forgot to post my new obsession*****
image
This Cross Stitch beauty is called Emerald Mermaid. This one is from Mirabilia. When I saw Sherry’s I decided I needed to try this.  She has done quite a few pieces & they are stunning. That’s when I decided I have to learn how to Cross Stitch…then along comes my Cross Stitch teacher…Donna. Thanks Donna for getting me hooked (I mean stitched)! One that Sherry did is called the Feather Fairy. It is so gorgeous, that it is already in my bag to cross stitch when I"m done this one! Here is what I have done so far…
image
It is so hard to put this piece down…kind of like my Fair Isle…as you can see it come together with each stitch. I think that is all for now.

Have a fantabulous evening!!

  Aloha

Aloha to all my knit blogging friends!!! I have not posted as I am on a nice long vacation. We were in Las Vegas for a business convention, then headed out to Kona, Hawaii with 3 other couples for lots of sun & fun! We haven’t had much luck with the sun…it has not come out except for a tiny bit one day & we have been here for almost a week. It is pouring buckets now & looks like I wil not get any color on this white body! We are still having FUN though!

I am having withdrawel symtoms from not knitting & I am looking forward to getting back to my normal knitting & eating routine…though I have to admit…the fish is fabulous here.

I will post some photos of our trip upon our return.

I leave you with a beautiful photo from Hawaii…

Aloha!!

  On a Roll

Here’s a photo of me wearing Marina...
image
It is the only picture that I thought was decent…must be PMS. Thank you for all of your opinions regarding the buttons. I really love the brown buttons…and beautiful brown buttons they are.

Posie…A New Project...
image
This is the left front. I know I said I was going to knit this in the color Licorice. I decided against that color as I could not see the stitches very well & I always check gauge often. This is Jo SharpSilkroad Aran Tweed in the color Posie #127.
image
A close up. I am LOVING knitting this sweater. First of all…it is a pretty quick knit. I absolutely love the color red. It is a little faded so it looks like is has been washed & worn a few times. I love that about this color. Oh and did I mention that this yarn issoooo soft & cosy? At first I thought I would want this sweater in a neutral color, but after I started knitting it in this shade…I fell in love. Lets just say…this sweater will probably make a statement! Donna is also knitting this lovely wrap cardi…go check hers out. It is gorgeous!
PS…I did all the cables without a cable needle. I will NEVER use one again! I love it this way!

Salina…Another New Project...
image
image
This is the start of Salina…from Rowan Vintage Style. I didn’t have any yarn to start my Cable cardi, so I started this sweater because I can’t stand not having something going on.. I am obsessed just like all of you. I’m using Rowan Felted Tweed in color #145. It is a dark brownish eggplant. It’s a rather gorgeous color yarn with a beautiful shade of blue & gold scattered throughout . I love it!

Knit Night Update...
I haven’t been posting many photos of our very fun knit nights…so here are a few from the last Thursday…
Lauren, Heather, Donna &moi.

image
Heather & her daughter Jenna moved last week to their very own place. Her new place is very cool. We ate dinner at Mama Rosas & then back to her place for some wine, knitting & laughs. We always have a great time together.

Well Jordan is in Japan right now. I got an email from him from the airport in Osaka, Japan. I can’t wait to hear from him again, to see how everything is going. I’m so happy & excited for him.

I will leave you with these photos…
image
image
Is this cool or what. I can pick a color & only that color will show up in the photo.

Have a great night!!

  **Finished Object Alert**

I know it has been a looooog time since I last posted…I am still alive and well. I’d like to present to you not just one…but 2 finished knits. Presenting Rick & his Wall Street Cable vest…
image
image
A close up of the neck…
image
He likes it…he really likes it. He has already worn it twice. This is the first time I have knit a V-neck & picked up stitches. It is amazing how it is done with a nice finished look to the V.

Next up…Marina…
image
The only problem is I do not have enough yarn to finish the collar. I just ordered one more skein today from Jimmy Beans Wool I really like their web site & they are quick to ship. I couldn’t find the right dye lot…but oh well. Hopefully it willblend enough. I have 4 inches done on the collar & the pattern calls for a 7 inch collar. I’d be happy with 6 inches though. So…when I get the collar all finished, I will take another photo of me modeling her. I decided to go with the brown buttonsbecause I needed to break up the blue color. I love blue & brown together. Let me know what you think. Here is a close up of the button…
image
I think it is different & I do think it works…after all, it is my sweater & I can do anything I want!!! Right? wink

P.S. If you look in my gallery (Been there Done that)...all the information regarding the finished project is posted there.

New Project Update…
I decided to knit this beautiful cable sweater next…
image
This is from Jo Sharp’s Contemporary Knitting…the 2nd book. Donna is going to knit this sweater with me…actually she showed my the sweater. I’m such a copy cat! Actually we both knit our last sweater together also. Hers is called Magenta & she looks fabulous wearing her. Go check it out.
I’m going to use Jo Sharp Silkroad Ara Tweed in the color Licorice #119. I decided that if I was going to knit a long bulky cable sweater, I’d better use a soft comfy yarn & one that is also a pretty neutral color that will go with a lot in my wardrobe. The tweed in this color is very subtle. It has a little burgundy & a few different shades of grey speckled throughout. I have been craving a black sweater & now I will have one.
image
A close up of the yarn. Here is a photo of the full sweater…
image

I will leave you (not as long as last time) with some sunset photos…
image
image
Oh my…the sky was ever more gorgeous in person.

Hope everyone had a fabulous New Year!!
Have a fantabulous evening!!!

  Is it that time already?

When you are young…time drifts slowly by. As you get older…time starts flying by so fast that you just can’t keep up with it. I guess that’s the case with me. I have been a busy girl lately, as I’m sure everyone is. I have been trying to get flights together for Jordan (son) for aforeign exchange program in Japan. Kansai Gaidai University to be exact. He has been obsessed with going there for a long time. Well his dream just came true. He is leaving in January for LA to visit some friends & is then heading off to Osaka, Japan for 4 months. I’m so excited for him. Then there is lots of Holiday shopping, plans for getting our Holiday party together, etc, etc, blah, blah, blah…

On the Knitting Front...
I have slowly been working on Wall Street. I have 4 inches to go on the front and then I start the V-neck separation. I can’t wait to finish this handsome vest. It is the only present that my DH desires and I HAVE to get it done for Christmas to put under the tree. He is a hard one to get any gift ideas out of.
I also knit up a Chemo cap for a friends relative…
image
I used Patons 100% Merino wool.
I have not worked at all on Marina since Wall Street has to get done. This is the only gift I’m knitting for X-mas this year.

Workout News...
There is not much to tell you on this front. My back is still hurting enough that I really can’t work out like I was…yet. I have walked a few times…very slow…on the treadmill. That’s about it! I feel so out of shape. I can’t wait till I can start doing my usual workouts.

Heres a photo of our Birthday lunch at Cafe De Paris…
image
Moi, Heather &Lauren had a fabulous time. All our B-days are in November. Now if only Donna could have been there. She was out of town. We missed you D!

Here are some photos I’d like to share with you…

Oh…one more thing…
Thank you to all the caring bloggers out there. You take my breath away!

Happy Thanksgiving to all & to all a good Feast

I’ll be wobbling over to the computer in the next day or two to post. Have a great one and enjoy all the fabulous Turkey Day food!
